Getting a Webflow site ready for Source.
Source by Webflow is in a limited research preview, and I’m in it. I can’t share more than Webflow has published. Webflow says Source connects to sites already built in Webflow, so it starts from the site you have today.
What Webflow has said.
- Webflow announced Source at Webflow Conf on September 2, 2026.
- Code is the foundation. The visual canvas writes to the same code.
- Marketing teams and AI agents work on the site together, each role in its own workspace, with brand systems, approval paths and audit trails built in.
- It connects to the stack you already use, including sites built in Webflow.
- The Webflow platform you’re on isn’t going anywhere. If you choose to move to Source, Webflow will provide a supported path.
- It’s in a limited research preview, opening to selected agency partners and customers over the coming months. There’s no public price or release date.

What ready means.
Whoever edits your site next, a person or an AI tool, starts from what’s already there. These four things make the difference.
- A CMS that matches the content. Collections named for what they hold, fields with one job each, references instead of copied text.
- Components with names and set options. One section with a few options, instead of twelve near-copies of it.
- One class system. No classes used once, no combo classes on combo classes, one name per style.
- Rules that are written down. Which component does which job, how classes are named, what never changes. If a rule only lives in someone’s head, nobody else can follow it, and neither can a tool.
You don’t need Source for any of this.
A site built this way is easier to run in Webflow today. And if you move to Source later, there’s much less to clean up first.
Where to start.
With the audit. I spend a week going through your site and write down what to fix, in order. If the fix turns out to be bigger, I rebuild the site on components with written rules.
Questions.
When is Source available?
Webflow says it’s opening to selected agency partners and customers in phases over the coming months. There’s no date for everyone yet.
How much does Source cost?
Webflow hasn’t published pricing.
Do we have to move our Webflow site to Source?
No. Webflow says the platform you’re on isn’t going anywhere. Moving is your choice, and Webflow will provide a supported path when Source is ready for you.
Will our Webflow site work with Source?
Webflow says Source connects to the stack you already use, including sites built in Webflow. I can’t say more than that. A site with a clear CMS, named components and written rules is the easiest kind to bring anywhere.
Can you get us into the preview?
No. Webflow picks who joins. You can apply on webflow.com/source.
